Family at the Beach..

Got to spend 5 days with these two.. we had a Super Time! We walked the beach every day, watched Temple Grandin (made everybody watch it actually, highly recommended) took naps, and ate well.. enjoyed shopping the 'kitschy' fun stores and stopping at the bakery for fruit danishes and $2 bottomless cups of good strong Oregon coffee.

Chuck takes a photo of Cheryl & I touching the base of Table Rock which is in front (but 100 feet down the path) of our beach house. At high tide you can see where the barnacles are we'd be covered with surf about 5/6 feet over our heads!

Mona, Chuck & Cheryl walking at low tide on Delfino's first day at the beach.

Dinner at The Loft, an intimate gourmet restaurant overlooking the Coquille river in Old Town Bandon with Rachel & Mona. We had Salmon & Goat Cheese tart with arugula.. rich! Finished up with the most amazing Crème Brûlée.. more of a true cream than a custard... with a 'breakthru' crisp sugar top.. a very sweet (in every way) joyful, special evening with our baby sister and her baby girl!

Later Rachel led us in ZUMBA! Wild child!! She's an instructor.. and is buying her own home.. After gutting it she's totally remodeled it! You go girl! Missed Leah and Joshua this time.. Next in France?

With a sunny beach .. massive. abundant rocks.. and artful driftwood everywhere.. Patty contemplated moving in...

Well, yes, we ate, we drank, we walked, we talked.. special to have Julianna with us ol' gals.. a lovely addition to our gal-gang.. Lucy broke free from her galavating~ (btw.. couldn't find that word in the dictionary...maybe it's Polish) new life style and drove me up from Chico .. thrilling scenery .. a 6/7 hour drive, pure pleasure!

We went thru old photos and listened to the CD's that Patty so kindly put together.. we cried and laughed & remembered being kids.. much needed! Though really we missed our Cindy .. :O( Chuck filled in so many blanks ... he talked about when Cindy lost her horse 'Utah'... he's got a great memory... and Mona became the 'keeper' of Danny's lock of hair & the nickel that got lodged in his throat one time.. that Mom saved from 1959 ..

THANK YOU!!! One and ALL so much for coming!

Good to see my "West coast cousins". Ramona was born just before I got married, thats why Aunt Clara couldn`t come to MI for my wedding. My Sandy is just one year younger than Ramona. I probably will never get to the west coast to visit, but I hope they would read the family blog to keep in touch.

Thanks for the post Alice.. love your new photos of the 'Dad's'.. You and Bill are wonderful parents & Grandparents.. you sure earned the right to be proud!

Hopefully us Delfinos will stay in touch here on the blog from time to time. It was terrific to be together in this beautiful place.. Jean used to say 'life is short and then we die' and I thot that was pretty funny when we were young! not any more!

Deb.. great pics of your visit with Justin too.. Isn't VA/WA DC great? You're lucky J's there!

I'm heading out Friday for another day with Lucy in Chico for dinner & a concert.. then home on Sunday & exhausted after the red-eye out of L.A. Ugh.. the journey is no longer half the fun! 'Thank you' greedy airlines & Dept of Homeland Security.. oh save me from the gropers (ones who feel about or search with the hands) and foot fungus please..

Jean is right! You are too in saying that the journey is no longer half the fun. We temporarily got lost on the way back from VA and ended up in West Virginia... (I was tired and we were following Tom Tom)... Saw some beautiful scenery, but I couldn't quite appreciate it at the time! Next time, we're taking an old-fashioned map. All of the flights would surely leave me nutty.

Great to see Mona and Chuck and the beautiful beach. You jet setter you! Guess you're getting in practice for that flight to France.
